"A Journey of Serenity: Multi-Level Spaces with Organic Flow"

The design of this women’s center merges contemporary elegance with natural materials, crafting a serene environment. Natural light, soft tones, and organic textures bring warmth and tranquility throughout the space. The multi-level layout guides visitors on a journey through visually and physically connected spaces, offering pleasant views at every turn. Integrated greenery and open layouts enhance the organic atmosphere, achieving a balance between privacy and openness while providing comfort and inspiration.

"A fluid environment that soothes salon visitors"

Inspired by the Chinese “Feng Shui” theory, which literally translates to “wind-water”, the salon brings balance and serenity into the user experience by promoting positive energy flow through the use of color, texture and form in its design.

The monochromatic, warm and neutral color scheme of the salon produces a calming environment that allows the eye to focus on the free-flowing form of the space, rather than an overpowering color scheme. The choice of material is intentionally minimal yet effective. The salon marries textured plaster with light wood to produce the desired neutral and calming color scheme.

Upon entry into the salon, you are greeted by a vision of curves expressed through levels, furniture, form and more. The rounded contemporary columns both visually expand the space and soften the structure. The open-floor plan allows users to experience a lighter and brighter space that allows for the free movement of guests and employees, while maximizing the amount of salon stations set up.

Despite the open-floor plan the design still prioritizes the individuality of each salon station by dividing the space through levels. Overall, the continuous leveling of the space - in combination with the curvilinear interior - creates a fluid environment that soothes salon visitors.

"Unified in curved forms"

The furniture is unified in its curved forms. Accents of rattan and plush cushions are used in the nail stations where exposure to water is minimal, whereas leather is used in the hair washing station because of its durability and waterproof nature.

The implementation of vegetation was essential to emulate the ‘Feng Shui’ concept. From the exterior looking in, the silhouette of green canopies peaking through the frosted glass, excited the visitor and alludes to the natural interior design. Upon entry, attention is immediately drawn to the focal point of greenery under a ring of light. Additionally, accents of various types of greenery are observed throughout the space to unify it all together.

The right balance of salon lighting is essential in achieving proper color calibration that flatters both the appearance of the client and the design elements of the salon, while also creating ambience and a vibe that salon guests connect with. As such, the salon focuses on natural daylighting during the day and warm, subtle hidden lighting during the night. The floor to ceiling use of frosted glass encourages natural daylighting in the space while maintaining privacy for its users.

The hidden lighting accentuates the form of the curve, while providing a subdued evening environment; perfect for relaxation. Finally, the subtly iridescent pendant light circled by the neutral spiral staircase mimics the feeling of falling water droplets that accentuates the fluid nature of the space.
